A group from the College of Cambridge unveiled a video that includes a fleet of mini robotic automobiles able to autonomously switching lanes whereas navigating a two-lane monitor. ⠀

The automobiles had a particular capacity: they might talk with one another through WiFi. In accordance with the experiments, that functionality dramatically improved visitors movement — proof that we’ll want to show autonomous automobiles to “speak” to 1 one other if we need to take full benefit of self-driving tech. Faucet the hyperlink in our bio to see them navigate.⠀

  • I did a VERY similar project on Mitigating Traffic congestion for my Systems Design class! I used Bilateral Traffic control and how this can be understood as the phenomenon of emergence such as a school of fish. One fish on it’s own has no chance of surviving a threat against a shark but a school of fish uses emergence and creates a beautiful communication system, they “talk to each other” and avoid hitting into each other whilst escaping their threat! Cool cool stuff 👌🏽👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

  • You can also do this with independently autonomous cars, WiFi not needed

  • Cars talking to each other to improve traffic flow should be the whole point of self driving cars. Now all we do is give each other the finger and create traffic.
