As if colonizing space wasn’t arduous enough, one scientist claims that infants born in space won’t even be completely human.

Evolutionary biologist Scott Solomon says childbirth in space is likely to be extraordinarily troublesome, making cesarean deliveries the norm for space explorers — which could lead to infants evolving larger, alien-like heads.

“Lastly, people residing in space would possibly evolve to be fully totally different enough from people on Earth that we might take into consideration them to be fully totally different species,” Solomon says. Faucet the hyperlink in our bio to be taught additional regarding the evolutionary modifications going by means of future human space colonists.

  • That “evolution” of large headed babies is irrevelant. That evolution could take 100.000 years to develop. So most prolly never happen.
How many born dead today for being “large head”? Some scientists are drown in so called scientific laws.

  • We evolve into aliens that discover time travel and go back in time and then engineer “humans” from apes

  • There is no scientific evidence that humans born in space will be different, Evolution itself is still a theory. Good dreams Mr. Salomon.

  • This idea in itself is quite improbable, as we have stopped human biological evolution. Because nowadays everybody survives and reproduces, there is no such thing as natural selection anymore. Also, this evolution would have to take place over thousands if not millions of years, with no contact with a planet/atmosphere and probably gravity.

  • Artificial wombs, genetically enhanced embryos, and cryogenic sleeping chambers will have to be invented first in order to make any kind of interstellar travel remotely possible.

  • And this “evolution” would take how long exactly? Chances are by the time this is even somewhat of a concern humans will have left the earth to colonize (and potentially destroy) another planet/moon/asteroid/dimension !

  • This leads to some potentially scary presidents… imagine a future where those in earth and those in space are considered different species… the racism (then speciesism) that could result… wars between humans on earth and humans in space… damn…
