San Francisco is preemptively taking pictures down using facial recognition. On Tuesday, the California metropolis’ Board of Supervisors voted 8-to-1 to ban its authorities businesses from utilizing facial recognition tech even if not one of the businesses at present use the expertise.   • Stupid decision. If you’re abiding by the law, you’ve got nothing to hide. What people don’t realize is that this will help keep people in check. It won’t completely mitigate crime altogether, but it will deter a portion of it

  • Good. Facial software use by the government should be considered illegal search as it is performed without consent and without justification for suspicion of a crime. It is flawed tech. It is tantamount to invasion of privacy, a concept that is anathema in the U.S.
