As soon as we’re all lastly residing on Mars, how will we discuss with these now we have left behind on Earth? 🌏📣

NASA has a reasonably good idea: lasers.

To place the groundwork for the realm firm’s daring timeline to get to the Pink Planet by the mid 2030s, NASA has begun developing an infinite dish in California which is ready to be able to select up on the Martian laser communications (Sidebar: Is just not it cool that we’ll be able to title these future, off-world individuals Martians?)

Anyway, once more to it. Using lasers to talk will elevated our “data worth from Mars by about 10 cases what you get from radio,” talked about Suzanne Dodd, the director of the CA program

Faucet the hyperlink in our bio to be taught further about how the dish will work.

  • Maybe an array of 60k satellites can do the trick streaming Netflix to Mars in the future.

  • Just build my quantum communicators. Entangle 2 particles, oscillate them between membranes, measure the vibrations caused by particles as 0. When you speak across the membrane and alter it vibrations, the entangled particle will behave as if it is in the affected membrane which would transfer the vibrations from your voice across it membrane. Measure the difference compared to 0. You’ve just transmitted a message across space instantly. No lasers, no line of sight, no delay. Instant communication over infinite distance. You’re welcome. I’ll take some land with a well as payment. Lol

  • When we are *all* living on Mars, there won’t be anyone left on earth to communicate with, by definition.

  • Who would want to live on Mars with no plants, animals, or insects? All the windows there will be images of Earth.

  • Yep, we can got Applebee’s and use the little kiosk to send mars IG selfies back to earth. It’ll be so cool and worthy of colonizing another planet.

  • I had that idea back in Hs when I was working with fiber cables where one satellite would blink lasers while a telescope from earth would zoom to the other and transfer data 🤷🏻‍♂️ this wouldn’t be unicast of course, both would have lasers and readers. Lasers wouldn’t need to shoot directly at each other, but zoom to blinking laser

  • Mid 2030s? Must be Boeing rockets. Spacex already has plans to go within a few years and with many more missions thereafter. NASA sits on their hands and never even went back to the moon. Private industry will far surpass NASA
